Ocala, FL (December 5, 2019) - The journey from green broke to nationally competitive Grand Prix horse is littered with challenges. From the first backing to the final piaffe, a few basic but complicated foundational principles can make or break performances. One of those principles is connection, and specifically connection from the rider's hands to the horse's mouth as a result of impulsion from the horse's hind legs. As a practicing FEI veterinarian for Ocala Equine, Dr. Courtney Varney faced a not uncommon quandary for an aspiring Grand Prix competitor: her mare struggled to relax and be confident in the bridle. Tension, nervous fussing, and grinding teeth compromised not only the fluidity of the connection, but also her mare's scores, training, and talent. As a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Varney was determined to discover a solution.

Wellington FL (April 19, 2019) - Six equines, twelve weeks of competition, and countless memories: for the sixth year in a row, Kat Fuqua spent her winter weekends in sunny south Florida, competing at the US's prestigious international hunter/jumper show circuit, the 2019 Winter Equestrian Festival. Of the ten weeks in which she competed, Fuqua was invited to the Parade of Champions ten times, earning 43 blue ribbons, ten Championships, four Reserve Championships, and five Classic Championships. Joined by her grooms, mother, and trainer, she ventured into the International Arena during WEF 12 to receive two Circuit Championships: Large Pony Hunter with Brighton and Large Green Pony Hunter with Prestige (aka Prince). Prestige proved particularly unstoppable this season, taking Champion each week he showed.
